Piemonte is situated in the in the North West corner of the Italy.  This area is surrounded on three sides by the Alps, including Monviso where the Po rises, and Monte Rosa.  It borders France, Switzerland and the Italian regions of Lombardy, Liguria, AostaValley and for a very small fragment with Emilia Romagna.  

The Sauze d'Oux area forms part of an industrial triangle created by Milan, Turin and Genoa. Italians themselves use this area as a popular holiday destination.  Piemonte boasts some of Europe’s most breath taking landscapes which take the form of vines and rolling hills therefore making it ideal for those who enjoy sporting activity such as trekking, horse riding and cycling.   The regions snow and mountains provide spectacular settings for its ski resorts such as Claviere, and Sestriere and the areas proximity to the Ligurian coast make it an ideal holiday destination.

Alba:   Alba's history goes back several thousand years with evidence dating it to the Stone Age. Today Alba, the natural capital of the Langhe, is a chic sophisticated town with Via Maestra being the home of many high class shopping establishments.
Asti:   Asti is well known for its sparkling wines which include Asti Spumante and Moscato d' Asti all produced from the Moscato grape.
Barolo:   Barolo is located in the heart of the wine growing area of Piemonte and wine connoisseurs travel from all parts of the world to sample its fine wines.
Savona:   Savona is situated on the Ligurian coast and is the gateway to many beautiful seaside towns such as Spotorno, Noli, Finale Ligure, Alassio, Santa Margharita and Portofino.
Genova:   The very heart of Genoa's Old Town area is a good place to see ancient churches and Renaissance-style palaces.

The region is world famous for its wine production where the Langhe hills are home to the great Barolo wines and nearby Asti produces its Spumante. Food connoisseurs around the world visit the area to sample its truffles and visit Bra the capital of the Slow Food movement.  Other popular local dishes like tajarin ai tartufi bianchi, risotto ai funghi porcini, torta alle nocciole delle Langhe and castagnaccio can be found in this region.
